2017 GED Summit

Connecting Students to a Better Future

November 7-8, 2017

The Oregon State GED Program in collaboration with the Higher Education Coordinating Commission and the Office of Community Colleges and Workforce Development, is proud to sponsor Oregon's fourth annual GED Summit "Connecting Students to a Better Future."

The GED Summit was originally developed to support the changes associated with the new rigorous 2014 GED® Test and to explore expanding partnerships across the state of Oregon. Since its inception, the GED Summit has become a leading edge learning summit on the west coast for learning about best practices, facilitating conversations, attending continuing education workshops, and working together with community partners, businesses, education and workforce partners to strengthen and unify local communities through helping to create better futures for our citizens who do not have a high school equivalency credential.

The Oregon GED Program invites GED partners from Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Nevada and California to attend. Together we can assist GED students in successfully earning their GED® certificate so they may move forward to post-secondary opportunities.

This year's GED Summit will have the following tracks:
  • Sharing new resources, best practices and trends
  • Electronics in and out of the classroom: bringing professionals and students together
  • Student health and wellness
  • Staff health and wellness
  • Student behaviors
  • Reaching multi-cultural students
  • Barriers to learning (homeless, abuse, poverty, learning disabilities, language, etc.)
  • Understanding data
  • Diveristy and inclusion
